I also had this glitch, I had it not only in Melbourne, Sepang and Monaco. I also had it in Sao Paulo, Imola, Silverstone, Budapest and Monza. For Sao Paulo the race ended with only 4 cars, Trulli wins, Panis P2, Fisichella P3 and Heidfeld P4 (there were 5 survivors but the 5th, Jenson Button, had an engine failure). A majority were victims of the pit glitch, especially at the entrance, at one point in the race, Justin Wilson on a Minardi was on the podium, until he fell victim to that glitch.

I had no idea this ended so recently. I started watching this and your GPM2 series after getting back into both games recently, and I've really enjoyed both series.

The default car setup indicates the characteristics of that circuit, including the likelihood of rain. I believe the most likely to see rain are Japan, Luxembourg, Belgium, Britain and Brazil.

I knew drivers could come out of retirement, but I've never seen one come back temporarily to replace a fired driver and go back to retirement, but Hakkinen's status for next year suggests that is what happened. I'm curious to see whether he'll actually announce a full return later on.

If you're only doing two stop strategies and you have the ability to improve all the tyres to maximum performance, there's not really much reason to run the hards, as you don't need their built-in durability. You may as well max out the softs and take advantage of the extra speed.

Fixing the engine rigidity is sensible, but if anyone ever finds themselves in a position where it's low and they can't fix it, just lower your drivers' top speed driver order. You can lower certain orders to avoid other parts failing too, but I don't remember them all off the top of my head.

Very interesting regarding the chassis ratings. I felt so sure based on performances that it must be based on the TD in your version of the game, but seeing that it isn't makes those results very confusing indeed. Is there any chance it works differently for the player and the AI?

I believe driver loyalty just means you can get that chief to sign for less money than you would otherwise as long as that driver will be on the team for next season. One thing I've wondered about driver morale is whether it's affected by their constant complaints when you either don't do testing or make them test in an area they don't want to do. I try to avoid that just in case, but I've never known whether it matters.

I think the 'access to engine upgrades' perk means you can be given engines upgraded by other teams in addition to the main upgrades. I love all the theories about why the teams' performances don't match your assumed chassis ratings. I'm wondering at this point whether you ever consider that your assumptions could be incorrect. I guess I'll find out by continuing to watch.

I think this basically confirms the theory I had last season that the version of the game you were running uses the technical director instead of the chief designer to determine the chassis rating. I use the unofficial patch which makes it a split of 75% TD and 25% CD, which is a balance I like because then there is a reason for the TD to be so much more expensive than the CD in the game.

Morale does actually have an effect on driver performance. Every point above 3 morale gives one random point to another driver attribute, and every point below 3 takes a random point away. You actually don't need to build two race cars before the end of the season. I never do in my early seasons with Minardi. As long as you have two cars before Australia next year it's fine, so you can build one before and one after the season end. I wish I'd caught this series when it was new so that this advice was relevant, but maybe somebody will find it useful one day. Regardless, I've been enjoying watching you play these old F1 management games.

The Wiiliams drop-off and Arrows improvement would make sense if you were running a version of the game which uses the technical director rating above the chief designer rating to determine the maximum chassis performance. Your 1998 chassis theory for Williams makes sense assuming the AI will even do that, but I see no good explanation for Arrows being so much better suddenly if their 2-rated chief designer is determining the chassis rating.

I've never played as Stewart, but I often play as Minardi and in the first two seasons I can generally only produce two spares per race, so I have no choice but to keep using worn cars. Sometimes the wear is over 50% and they usually still finish, although I do make sure to put all the driver orders down to 1 for every race. Even when I can produce more spares in later seasons, I can't seem to get rid of that frugal mindset and I often keep some wear on the cars to save spares for later. Playing as a team with better resources is such a different experience.

I know people wanted Hakkinen or another top driver, but Diniz and Takagi is the only sensible choice for Stewart as their staff means their 1999 car will always be terrible so paying anyone a salary to drive it is a waste of money. It's much better to take the money and invest it in improving the team for the future. Same goes for Minardi, Tyrrell and even Prost. Late comment, but people still play this game so maybe it's useful to someone.

Back in 1996 I wrote the GPM2Editor for this thing. Imagine my surprise when I learned that people are still using it to create GPM2 mods over 20 years later 😮

I think Fisichella can win the championship, he has to be the weakest in quali between the six drivers in the 3top teams during 2006 season (sorry i’m 9years late 😅)

Im planning to start a f1 23 myteam career mode where every driver is of a different nationality, i would need lewis, daniel and alonso to retire and then somehow force russell (or norris) and ocon to retire and in top try to avoid f2 drivers like pouchaire and doohan to ascend to f1 Do you think this tips would help me to make this a possibility? or what other tips would you give me?

whenever i brake, it's always weak. I noticed this when I searched online for license B-1 and i wouldn't stop in time. I saw that in the video, the car stops almost immediately and it was the same as my car. IDK what to do and my brakes are so weak or busted in the game, pls help

There was another little F1 Manager Game from the early 90s with the Datas from the 91 Season, but withous MSC. It was a game looked a bit like an Excel Program. But I liked it very much to play. You can hire Drivers and Mechanics, Engine, Chassis etc. It was from Wizard company I think. And there was another Version with the 94 Datas as well, with MSC but without Senna.

My problem with F1 Manager 2022 was that you always became completely OP by the second season.

How many designs did you do each season? And how much research did you do just out of interest because I wanted to try this myself
